28 / 12 / 2004 - Tsunami in Phuket - Thailand Two days after the Tsunami I left Belgium. Helping families in need was our goal. We arrived in Phuket with 44 coffins and 500 kg of embalming products and welding material. We stayed 8 days helping families to find and repatriate there beloved one. It is only after my return that I realized all the horror I had lived. Emotionally it had become impossible to me to keep on helping other families. Today, 5 years later, I feel the need to go back to supporting and helping families. I will always keep the memory of everything I went through in Phuket after the Tsunami. However, I now remember how grateful the families I helped were. In the meantime I made the mourning of my suffering too and I feel the strength, the need and the motivation to help families again. I took this video just before a storm moved in, as you can see it was taken during low season and not too many folks on the beach, today I was the only one on the beach. Nai Thon beach is also one of my swim route location; I have several around the island that I like to go to, if you are into distance swimming just be aware of the currents and were surface swim fins this will help you out in the long run. As a retired Navy SEAL, I have swam in almost all types of sea state conditions and always use fins, one of the hardest things to do in the world are Over-The-Beach operations whether you are swimming into a beach or taking a rubber boat; IE 470 Zodiac, IBS. One of the top reasons why I love Phuket so much is right here in this video, I love the ocean and I am in it almost every day in Phuket, I just can't seem to get enough of it, one of the true beauties is while you're out in the water and you look up at the beautiful shoreline it really is a site to be seen. Amidst the political conflicts, natural threats and the down trend in the economy, today we hope to cheer all up by showing more about this example of caring humans of any race. Just before dusk last Thursday when local villagers, workers, hotel management and tourists on Racha island off Phuket were either relaxing, working, discussing politics or enjoying their evening, they learnt that about 30 marine creatures looking like dolphins, later identified as False Killer Whales, had become stranded on shore in one of the bays. They started coming from about 6 o'clock and some even until 9.30 pm. But immediately the people on the island realized that they had to save some of the marine animals' lives. I usually do a quick 20 minute continuous lap just to cool down after a long ocean swim. I love these swimming pools and try to hit one of them at least once a day, sometimes I wonder if I spend more time in the water than I do on land, well that is one of the reasons why I love Phuket so much, I just love the water. Just taking a swim in the beautiful Andaman Sea is one of the most joyous things I like to do. Northern Thailand - Plenty to See

When thinking of Thailand, we often think of Bangkok shopping, clubbing and maybe buy some more. Or perhaps Phuket and the beautiful beaches and many resorts on the beach. But who is more than spending some time in Thailand knows there are many more for the country.

The Northeast of Thailand is a seat of ancient culture and tradition, but even after so many years of tourism - the area is relatively unknown.

After two hours on board the Thai Airways flight to Bangkok, wedisembark for flight to Nong Khai, a border town between Thailand and Laos on the banks of the Mekong River. A 'friendship' bridge connects the two nations and the province is an access to capital, Laos, the beautiful and peaceful Vientinane.
