Many efforts have recently been put in by groups including the Old Phuket Town Foundation to maintain the precious cultural assets. Last week it held the Phuket Yesteryears event and our reporter captured some of the atmosphere. Lets take a look: Promoting the much valued old Phuket Town area, its tradition and culture is the core task for the Old Phuket Town Foundation which was established and supported by the office of Phuket City. Located in the heart of the city, the Old Phuket Town area is today revitalized and well kept as the Foundation and the Office of Phuket City aim at promoting its historical and cultural tourists sites. They include tidiness, convenience and safety for visitors. The Phuket Yesteryears event was one example which reflects the Foundations determination to present and recall the good old days, showing off the local culture including garments, food and traditional ceremonies.
