Thailand
Thailand is usually the best place to start for the first time independent travelers. It is very easy to get around and there are many other backpackers on the chat and hang with.
Thailand is a mix of forests in the north for trekking and some of the best beaches in the world in the south.
Bangkok is a vibrant city with canals and rivers crossed. The Sky Line is one of the skyscrapers, shopping centers and international hotel chainsBut the canal banks and streets of the city, the traditional side of Thai life is clearly visible. The business hub of the city is easily navigated with the help of the Skyrail & U-Bahn, but the more touristy areas around the Koh San Road are supplied less well and Tuk Tuks are the main mode of transport. Negotiate with your hard Tuk Tuk driver - a taxi is always cheaper and has the advantage of air conditioning, however, be sure to confirm that after the count as chargedin contrast to agree a fixed price. Taxis will only take at an agreed price after 3pm from that date on your to hour in a hurry, and they are very likely to spend the hours with you in a traffic jam!
Their main point is the Koh San road like this, where are located all hostels and guesthouses. This is a long road, where there is a market every night and plenty of bars and restaurants of McDonald's and Burger King even want one for those who choose to make a little morehome. For the best food when go street vendors. Here are some of the best Pad Thai you've ever eaten for around 20 baht.
South Islands
Most people come to Thailand's beaches and diving. The main islands in the South are:
Koh Tao
A backpacker Iceland, where everyone gets to dive and to learn especially how to dive. There are some beautiful beaches here and also a good nightlife.
Koh Pan Gan
This is the party island of Thailand and where thefamous Full Moon Party is held every month. This, if you have not heard is a big crazy party on the beach, which attracts at least 10,000 people each month to get as fucked up as possible. Get here a few days early during the peak months, if your accommodation if you wish.
Koh Samui & Phuket
These islands are full of package tourists on their annual vacation for two weeks in the sun. I would recommend avoiding these two islands.
Koh PhiPhi
This island has been heavily damaged by the tsunami and have seen the before and after me, it really remarkable is how quickly got back on its feet. There is one main area / place where everyone will pay, but it's still big enough not to everyone on the other. The beach is like a postcard, or you can get a boat into the lagoon, where the Leo Dicapro film "The Beach" was filmed and chill it for the day.
Vietnam
Vietnam was devastated by the war, but isnow a great place to visit. I suggest starting your journey from Hanoi and work your way through the country.
Hanoi
Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and is a great introduction to the Vietnamese way of life. The city is always busy and cross with care not to stop these roads as motorcycles.
This city center is around Hoan Kiem lake, the lake is only the old quarter, the main area for budget hostels and guest houses is. Hanoi is a great place to justwalk and walk. Each street has its own trade and each shop only sell products to do with this trade, so you sell at the end only roads with shoes or harness. It is strange to see, but that's the way they do.
If you are tired and hot, while walking around you can always stop for a few Bia Hoi. They are everywhere in the city, many people are sitting on small plastic chairs in the street can see, is this where they sell the Bia Hoi. This is officially the cheapest beer on tap in theWorld. 10p/20 a glass, you should back across cents.
Ha Long Bay
This is north of Hanoi and is by all travel agencies in the city available either as a overnight trip. This is a must for anyone involved in the area as a UNESCO World Heritage Site it and for good reason.
The bay is nearly 2000 limestone islands to explore caves and lagoons to walk a few kayak in. If you go to the bay you go on a traditional junk boat, where you get your own room and dinnerand served breakfast.
Hoi An
Hoi An is located on the coast and even has a pretty decent beach. It is also the place for custom-made clothes to come. There are too many to mention here, Schneider, with the main road quite a lot from them. You can literally get anything done here, all you have to do is a photo of the item you wish and will to do it for you. A good quality suit costs about $ 50 - $ 100
Nha Trang
Is a seaside resort shortly after mid-termover the country. This city is very good with a long beach, which developed the entire length of it. There is not much to do here culturally, but it is a good place to relax after more than a few long bus rides to get this far. If you simply relax on the beach all day the only time you need to be out of it go to the toilet, as there are so many street vendors sell just about everything you need from books, drinks at a BBQ with fresh fish . move It is a great night life hereto go with some of the most important place. These are the Why Not Bar and the sailing club, right on the beach, but more expensive for them.
Ho Chi Min City (Saigon)
This is the Vietnam you see in the movies. Streets with so many bikes, vapors, it difficult to breathe and make only general chaos packed. There are quite a few museums to visit, the deal here mainly with the war, but are all worth a visit and even the strongest man is holding back tears on the images of sufferingthey endured.
From here you can take a day trip to the Cu Chi tunnels, where the North had a series of small tunnels which they used to fight the South. You can down some of these tunnels but warned that they are very small and it is best not to do it on a cat like me. Again, you can an array of fire with automatic weapons and rifles, which is not fair that you pay per item.
Cambodia
Cambodia has a very evil dictator Pol Pot had his past, butis perhaps not recovered as quickly as its neighbors, "but it's arrival. Cambodia surrounded by Vietnam, Thailand and Laos, and go through the land in the Mekong in Laos.
Phnom Penh
Is a typical Asian Capitol City, is not much to do, but there is always a great experience if you are coming from Vietnam. From Saigon you can take a boat, the two days you come to us, but you see some real Vietnam and Cambodia on the path.
The two most important places to see in and aroundPhnom Penh, the Killing Fields, where about 200,000 people were executed during 1975 to 1979, when the Khmer Rouge ruled. You can see millions of bones and skulls that thousands were recovered from the pits.
Also for S-21, used to go to high school, which will be converted to a prison during the Khmer Rouge, where she was tortured for up to 20,000 people and killed by repeated and this held.
Two to three times a day, they show a film that goes into detail what thewent to the prison with interviews of survivors and prison guard.
Sihanouk Ville
Is a seaside resort about 3-4 hours bus ride from Phnom Penh and has a decent enough beach, all of which have long hostels and guesthouses, restaurants and bars where you can chat with new friends and enjoy a cold beer. You can dive here, but I would not want your money, like the visibility is very poor, and the reefs are not very much life in the sea.
Siem Reap / Angkor Wat
Siem Reap is thenearest town to the temples of Angkor Wat. The town itself has little to offer apart from a market in the center of the city where you can get some new clothes and souvenirs. Every evening, most people head down, the aptly named Bar Street to meet and hangs with friends.
The temples of Angkor are quite spectacular and very worth a visit. You get the choice of either a one-day or 3 day pass. It is recommended to go for the sunrise over Angkor Wat, this is quite amazing, but you canvery busy.
There are so many temples, around here, most are still in excellent condition. Although my favorite one that was taken is through the jungle and most of them are in ruins.
You can either rent a tuk tuk driver to take you, advise which, if you rent the journey or a day not only a bike and ride around at your own pace.
Laos
Laos is landlocked and bordered by Burma, China, Vietnam, Thailand and Vietnam. Laos has been involved in the Vietnam war, especially hisProximity to the country and is one of the most developed countries in the region.
Vang Vieng
The town where you can to remember anything. This place is just a big drunken haze. You get to drive a tractor inner tube and a flow down and drink a break in the bars on the track and get free shots of Lao Lao whiskey and then bucket lao lao more whiskey and coke to 6pm if you think you have to go enough you have an island that is only bars (smiles are the best) until middnightWhen the curfew kicks in. Love this place: D
Try to swing the rope in each of the pubs. The first bar is the largest, it can bring other bars.
Luang Prabang
Very nice city and is very quiet compared to Vang Vieng. The night market seems to run forever with lots of goodies. Even if you go you have to go bowling here one evening after 11 clock - you'll see what I mean.
